Recognition for ADDCON:
Feed Formulation Innovation Award goes to pwrPlanz EMC
Innovation in animal nutrition isn’t just about new products—it’s about solving real problems for farmers and animals. This year, ADDCON’s work was recognized at Victam Latam in São Paulo with the Feed Formulation Latin America Innovation Award 2025. The honor goes to our product pwrPlanz EMC, a new approach for swine production built on medium- and macrochain fatty acids.
Gastrointestinal diseases are a persistent challenge in pig farming. For years, antibiotics were the standard solution, but today, alternatives are needed. pwrPlanz EMC is a concentrated blend of a unique combination of even and uneven medium chain fatty acids, macro-chain fatty acids, aromatic compounds and functional fiber. The product supports gut health and shows a strong antimicrobial effect against Gram-positive bacteria, such as Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus suis, Clostridium perfringens, and Staphylococcus aureus.
Commercial trials in Spain and Germany with more than 13,000 piglets confirmed the results. pwrPlanz EMC reduced mortality rates in post-weaning piglets, even without veterinary-prescribed antibiotics. In one study, EMC matched the effectiveness of amoxicillin in reducing deaths caused by Streptococcus suis. The award was accepted by our colleague on site. He described the moment as a proud milestone for the team and highlighted the positive feedback from visitors and industry peers.
This recognition means a lot to us. It’s proof that science and teamwork can drive change in animal nutrition. We’re proud to contribute to antibiotic reduction and support the One Health approach. More details from the jury and organizers will follow soon. For now, we celebrate this achievement and look forward to what’s next.
