In the Norwegian plant we produce Ammonium Bicarbonate (NH₄HCO₃) for use in the bakery industry, other related industries and also for other chemical purposes.

Production started back in 1974 and has continued since then. Storage, packaging and production are separated from other activities, due to the need of a high level of food safety and to avoid contamination of the final product.  

The product can be used in the following industries: medicine, feed additives and food, cosmetics, agriculture, general chemical industries, applications to laboratories, production of nylon and also lubricating oil production. This all together makes Ammonium Bicarbonate an applicable product in the ADDCON NORDIC product line. Ammonium Bicarbonate is a crystallized merchandise which is quite fine and the product is white of colour. It has a faint smell of ammonia due to the ammonia introduced in the production process. Ammonium Bicarbonate is easily dissolved in water, which often is done by bakeries in their production sequences. Ammonium Bicarbonate by ADDCON NORDIC is friendly toward the environment as it is biologically dissolvable and it is not seen as hazardous to the environment by the supervising institutions.

ADDCON NORDIC`s factory at Heroya in Porsgrunn, is dedicated to only produce ABC. The factory is in Norway registered at the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, thus it is inspected regularly by this institution.

The food safety and quality management system for the production of Ammonium Bicarbonate are ISO 22000-2005 (HACCP) and ISO 9001-2000 certified. The product is also Kosher certified.
