Potassium formate (molecular formula: HCOOK) is the potassium salt of formic acid and is for example used as a potassium formate brine for de-icing of airports as well as for municipal, private and industrial winter maintenance. Formates are efficient, material compatible and are characterized by an excellent environmental profile. Research done by the Finnish environmental administration confirm that de-icing agents on basis of formates are more environmental friendly than sodium chloride based de-icers.

Due to their unique product properties and their high environmental compatibility Potassium formate brines are also used by oil and gas industry as drill-in and completion fluids. Secondary refrigerants and additives for different industrial applications are further fields of use.

Both production plants of the ADDCON GROUP for Potassium formate in Porsgrunn, Norway and Bitterfeld, Germany are characterized by highest efficiency, state-of-the-art technology and a comprehensive quality management.
